Why Yarra Junction works for EV drivers
Doon Reserve is approximately 65 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, around an hour via the Maroondah Highway. Vehicles like the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV9 and BYD Atto 3 can all do the return trip comfortably on a single charge, even in winter conditions.
Leave home full, arrive with well over half your battery remaining, drive home the same way. For most guests, charging simply doesn't come up.

Charging on site
Our powered sites run standard 240V connections at 10 to 15 amps, which covers general camping use comfortably: fridges, lights, CPAP machines, laptops and similar.
If you'd like to use a portable EV charger, come and see us at the office first.
EV chargers can draw more current than a typical camping load, so we'll point you to the right site and the best time to plug in to make sure it works for you without affecting other guests. We'd rather you ask than have any surprises mid-charge.
Public chargers near Yarra Junction
If you're towing, carrying heavier loads, or just want a backup option, there are public charging points in the area. Before you leave, check PlugShare, Chargefox, Evie Networks or the Tesla Supercharger network for current locations and live availability. A quick look before you leave Melbourne is all the planning you'll need.

What Doon Reserve is like
Doon Reserve sits directly on the Yarra River, in the foothills of the Yarra Ranges. It's a proper campground rather than a resort: well-spaced sites, riverfront positions right on the water, and quiet enough to hear the river at night.
In winter, only powered and riverfront sites are open, which keeps the park uncrowded and the atmosphere exactly what most guests come for: cool mornings, campfires, the sound of the Yarra, and genuine stillness an hour from the city. The drive through the Yarra Valley on the way out is worth savouring too.
