Rayners Orchard
With hundreds of fruits grown on site and Tractor Fruit Tasting Tours where you can eat as much fruit as you like, this orchard is a great family outing. They also offer fruit bottling classes, and you can take home 5 bottles of fruit (morning or afternoon tea is provided).
Location: 60 Schoolhouse Rd, Woori Yallock
Cost: Tours = Adult - $32.50; Seniors - $27.50; Carers - $10.00; Child $27.50; Families $27.50 per person. Fruit bottling classes = Adult - $129; Child - $59. Fruit picked to take home = $6/kg.
Cherryhill Orchards
This is a seasonal place to visit, but a spectacular location – hence it is used frequently for weddings. The cherry picking season is open from mid-November to early January and you can pre-book all year round. They also open for the brief 2 week period when their cherry trees are in full blossom, pre-bookings also run year round. There are two Orchards, one in Coldstream and one in Wandin East.
Locations: 474 Queens Road, Wandin East & 739 Maroondah Highway, Coldstream.
Cost: Adult (14yrs+) - $19.50; Child (4-13yrs) $10.50; Infant (0-3yrs) – Free; Family (2A + 2C) $45.00. All prices are higher on public holidays.
Jay Berries U-Pick
Take a stroll around the orchard and pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and other vegetables. They also make frozen slushies from real fruit and sell other products made from the orchard fruit. They do run events, check their website for details. A seasonal attraction, this orchard is open October to April, and remember they are closed on Saturdays.
Location: 140 Wandin Creek Road, Wandin East
Cost: Entry = 0-1 yrs – Free; 1-4 yrs - $2; 5 years and up - $5. Prices of picked fruit varies, check the website for details.
Chappies U-Pick
A family owned and run orchard, they allow you to walk amongst the plants to pick your own fruit. If that’s not your ‘jam’ just walk in buy them pre-packed for your convenience. They even sell them frozen.
Location: 21 Parker Road, Silvan.
Cost: Entry = Preschoolers – Free; Primary Schoolers - $7.50; Everyone else - $15. Take home fruit = $15/kg
Sanders Apples
A family run apple orchard that lets you pick your own apples off the trees. They have a number of apple varieties and a tractor ride around the orchard for those keen to get the full experience. Check the website for details as the picking is seasonal.
Location: 1020 Yarra Junction-Noojee Rad, Three Bridges
Cost: One person - $13; Two people - $16; Family/Group (4 people) - $30, including 2-4kg of take-home apples. Tractor Rides (approx. 15 mins) - $10.
